Frequently Asked Questions
Refferal ID and Tracking
How Do You Track My Referrals?
The RID code that you include in your links enables us to track refferals accurately. See our linking section for more information.
Why should I remember my Referral ID?
Your Referral ID identifies you and your referred sales. Without it we cannot track your sales and therefore, cannot pay you for them. It must be added to the end of the link before proper credit will be applied to your account.
What if I change my Referral ID?
If you change your RID on your links without notifying us, you will not be paid commissions for referred sales from that RID.
How Do I change my RID?
If you haven't made any sales:
Request an RID change by e-mailing affiliates@bookcloseouts.com. Please provide your current RID and the RID you wish to change to. Do not change the RID on your links until you have received notice from us that the update is complete.
If you have made sales:
You must reregister with your new RID.
How do I determine if an url is properly tracking the RID cookie?
- Go into your browser settings and change the setting for "cookies" so that it will "prompt" you each time a cookie is being set.
- Follow the URL with the embedded RID. If properly coded, your browser will prompt you to allow a cookie to be set.
- At this point you can also (with Internet Explorer) click on "More Info" to ensure the correct cookie is being set with the correct value.
- When you have confirmed that the URL is setting the RID cookie properly, go back and return your browser to its original settings.
Delayed CheckOuts
We use cookies to track referred sales on our site. If a customer follows your BookCloseouts link, fills a shopping cart, but does not check out, the cookie we are tracking will expire in 6 months. Although a customer places an item in their shopping cart, it is not reserved for them until they complete their purchase.

How Do I Choose My Referral Commission Option?
You can choose your Referral Fee Option when you register as an affiliate.
Can I change my Affiliate Account commission method from one type to another?
No. Once you have set up your affiliate account we are unable to modify the commission methods you’ve selected. If you’d like to change the commission structure, please create a NEW affiliate account using that new payment preference. You can then use both accounts if you would like, with a different commission structure on each.
If I have more than one affiliate account, can I combine them for commissions?
No, each account is treated separately, and commissions/coupons are issued for each individually.
When Do I Get Paid?
Once you have generated $25.00 or more in referral fees, it will appear on your next issued Payment Report. We will mail you a check to the address listed in your affiliate information.
How do the Product Credits work?
Credit can be applied against the product portion of your purchase but not toward shipping, handling and tax. In order to apply your credit, you must first create a coupon.
What if I want to let someone else make a purchase with these credits?
By turning your credit into coupons, you can share it with anyone you choose. The user must have the number and password for the coupon. Follow the instructions in the coupon section.

How Often Are The Affiliate Sale Reports Updated?
Sale reports are updated in real time. As soon as a sale is made, our database recognizes it, and the appropriate sales report is updated.
When Are The Affiliate Commission Payment Reports Generated?
- Our sale periods are 3 months in duration. A sales report for a particular period will be finalized at the end of the month that follows that period.
- Commision payments for each sale period are issued approximately one month after the previous quarter.
Maximum Coupon Amounts
To allow time for returns, purchase credit can only be redeemed after 30 days of a customer purchase date.
Why Is There Such A Delay In Generating The Commission Payments And Reports?
We need to allow time for returned product to be factored into the calculation.
Why Can't I See My Commission Payment Report?
You will not see a Payment Report for a particular sales period if you have not accumulated at least $25.00 in referral fees.
